The ABC of dementia Workshop

The Cornerstone Baptist Church, located at 1100 W. Highland Blvd., in Inverness, will host a free Alzheimer’s and dementia awareness and care-giving workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on October 6, 2015. The workshop is open to the public.
Entitled “ABC of Dementia,” the workshop will define Alzheimer’s and dementia, explain how dementia affects its victims, and the ways to become a better caregiver. Most people think dementia is just about memory loss. It is, but beyond that there are a wide range of symptoms that alter the perception, behavior, and physical abilities of the victim. Understanding this, Is key to better care-giving and improved communication with the loved one with dementia.
Workshop attendees will each receive a workbook, a poster containing reminders for how to interact with those with dementia, and a wallet card certifying their attendance and training as “Dementia-Friendly.”
While the workshop is free, registration is required so the host will be prepared with adequate space.
